Each sentence of an answer about your data is checked against your records. A figure or a name that is in none of them is caught. It is marked, or left out of the answer altogether.

The model does not write the source
The source beside an answer is never asked of the AI. It is the record the system actually read, so it cannot point at one that does not exist.
